Cancel any time. This page explains how subscriptions, cancellations and refunds work.
This Refund & Cancellation Policy forms part of the Terms of Use for the Datgel consumer application through which you reached it, together with its related website and online services (the “Service”), operated by Datgel Asia Pte. Ltd. (UEN 201132358H). It applies to paid subscriptions you buy directly from us. If you bought a subscription through an app store, see “Purchases through app stores” below.
Free tier and paid plans
An App may offer a free tier that lets you try core features at no cost, and one or more paid plans that unlock additional features. The plans, prices and billing periods available for an App are shown at the point of sale before you pay.
Subscriptions and auto-renewal
Paid plans are subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each billing period (for example monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, until you cancel. When you subscribe, you authorise us and our payment provider (for direct purchases, Airwallex) to charge your payment method for the initial period and each renewal. We do not store your full card details; they are handled by our payment provider.
How to cancel
You can cancel your subscription at any time:
- online, from your account — the cancel option is presented prominently and takes effect immediately, with no need to call or write;
- via the “Cancel contracts here” page — available from the footer of every page, usable without signing in, effective on submission and confirmed by email with the date and time; or
- additionally, by emailing hello@zenreader.co from the address associated with your account.
Cancelling immediately stops the next charge. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, and it will not renew after that. You keep access to paid features until the period ends, after which your account moves to the free tier (where available).
Renewal reminders
For yearly plans we email you a renewal reminder 15–45 days before each renewal, showing the plan, the amount and currency you will be charged, the renewal date, and how to cancel. During a free trial we also remind you by email before the trial ends and the first charge is taken.
Refunds — our money-back guarantee
The following is a voluntary guarantee we offer to all customers worldwide. It is in addition to — and never limits or replaces — the statutory rights described in the next two sections.
- 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are charged for a new subscription or a renewal and you have not made substantial use of the paid features, contact us within 14 days of that charge and we will generally provide a full refund of that charge. Refunds are issued to your original payment method.
- Part-used periods. Outside that window, subscriptions are generally non-refundable for the remainder of a billing period once it has started, but you will not be charged again after you cancel. We may make exceptions at our discretion — for example, for a genuine technical fault that prevented you from using a paid feature. This never limits the remedies the law gives you for faulty services (see “Your statutory rights” below).
- Faults and misdescription. If a paid feature is faulty, not as described, or otherwise does not meet the standards required by law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the laws that apply where you live.
- How to request. Email hello@zenreader.co from your account address, telling us the App, the plan and the reason. We aim to respond within a few business days and to process approved refunds promptly.
Your 14-day right of withdrawal
You may withdraw from (cancel) a subscription contract within 14 days of signing up, without giving any reason and regardless of how much you have used the Service. This applies to every customer, wherever you live. For consumers in the European Union (under the Consumer Rights Directive) and the United Kingdom (under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) it is a statutory right; we give everyone else the same right, on the same terms, as a contractual promise. Because subscriptions start at sign-up (including where a free trial starts then), the 14-day withdrawal period runs from the day you subscribe — it does not restart when a free trial converts to a paid plan, provided the paid price was clearly disclosed when you signed up.
- How to withdraw. Tell us within the 14-day period by any clear statement — use the “Withdraw from contract here” function on our website (no sign-in needed; also linked from the footer of every page), the cancellation option in your account, email hello@zenreader.co, or the model withdrawal form.
- Refund. We will refund all payments received for the subscription without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you tell us. If you expressly asked us to start providing the Service during the withdrawal period, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the period already supplied; otherwise the refund is in full. If you withdraw during a free trial you pay nothing.
- Model withdrawal form. Published in full, ready to copy, on the Right of withdrawal page — together with the complete notice. You are not obliged to use it.
Your statutory rights
This policy is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights as a consumer under the mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply where you live, including: in Singapore, the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003; in the European Union, the Consumer Rights Directive and your local consumer law; in the United Kingdom, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015; and in Australia, the Australian Consumer Law, under which our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded — for a major failure you are entitled to cancel and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value, and nothing in this policy (including the “part-used periods” paragraph above) limits those remedies. Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Purchases through app stores
If you purchased a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store manages your billing, renewals and cancellations, and refunds for those purchases are handled by the store under its own policies. Please manage the subscription in your app-store account settings and request any refund from the store.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. We will email you at least 30 days before a changed price affects one of your renewals, and the new price applies only from your next renewal. If you do not accept a new price, you can cancel before it takes effect and you will not be charged the new amount.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy from time to time. We reserve the right to update it at any time. When we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify you before it takes effect — for example by posting a notice in the App, updating the effective date above, and/or emailing the address associated with your account. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
