Managing your devices

See where you are signed in, and free a slot when you hit the limit.

Manage devices lists every device you are signed in on: its name, its platform, and when it was last used. Remove signs that device out.

You will find the link in Settings, under Product tier — beside Manage subscription rather than under Account, which is where most people look first.

The device limit

Each person may be signed in on a limited number of devices at once — three on the usual plans, so a phone, a tablet and a laptop. The limit is per person, not per family, so each child has their own three.

When you reach it, a sign-in fails with:

That reads exactly like a wrong password and is not one. Open this screen on a device you still have access to, remove one you no longer use, and sign in again.

Replacing a phone without removing the old one first is the usual way people meet this. So is a factory reset — the old installation still counts until it is removed here.
